ASD and HSSD

High Sensitivity Smoke Detection (HSSD) or Aspirating Detection Systems (ASD) operate by continuously pulling air from the protected area into a network of pipes and delivering it to a detection unit.

Any smoke is detected by special laser technology, which compares it to warning and alarm criteria set within a fire control panel.

Toxic and flammable gases can also be detected by these devices.

In many difficult situations where conventional smoke detection is inappropriate, ASD/HSSD systems are appropriate.

Many manufacturers currently offer the technology, which was invented by VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus).
